Dominion Voting System is a company that sells electronic voting hardware and software, including voting machines and tabulators, in the United States and Canada. This is as stated on their website. Regardless, the company is currently in the middle of a permuted conspiracy theory.

Since Joe Biden was declared the winner of the US Presidential election, Trump supporters have been going about peddling electoral misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theory.

In a post shared by one Twitter user, which has been liked and retweeted more than 3,000 times, a collage of Valerie Biden Owens was at the top two biographical statements of R. Kevin Owens and Stephen D Owens. In the post, Dominion Voting System was alleged to have been owned by Valerie Biden Owens, Joe Biden's nephew and campaign manager, to perpetuate electoral fraud.

The connection was a bit patchy, even as the biographical statements show nothing about Dominion. The post claims that since Stephen Owens is a co-founder of Staple Street Capital, and Staple Street Capital owns a 75% stake in Dominion, therefore both Stephen Owens and Valerie Biden Owens are related. This is false. There is no known relation between Valerie Owens and Stephen Owens. Both were assumed to be related because of their last name, "Owens", which is a common last name in the US.

Although John T Owens and Valerie Owens are partners, none of their three sons go with the name Stephen Owens, and so has no relation with the Biden family. The post also mentions R. Kevin Owens, who is an attorney related to John T Owens, Valerie's husband, but no connection has been drawn between him and Dominion.

The post and claim, therefore, is misleading and false. It is a forceful attempt to drag Biden into electoral fraud by linking Stephen Owens with Valerie Owens because of their shared last name.
