On Monday, legendary country musician Loretta Lynn announced via Instagram that she got married to Kid Rock over the weekend in what was described by her granddaughter as an hillbilly soiree. This announcement was a prank.

Over the weekend, Loretta Lynn attended her son, Ernest's vow renewal to his wife Crystal and on Monday, she posted on Instagram; "Marriage isn't always easy — heck it's not even always pretty, but love holds you together and you push through the bad days to enjoy the good ones. I'm so proud of them and wish them years of happiness."

In the end, the country music star whose husband died in 1998 added that; "Things got crazy then--my boy @kidrock was there and we've always teased about getting ourselves married. Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he's taken now!" This post is accompanied with the hashtags #gottahavesomefun #tabloidfodder and #cougar among others.

The post is attached to a picture of Kid Rock on his knees in front Loretta Lynn in what looks like a proposal. The announcement came as a shock to some of her fans while many of them expressed their joy at the supposed marriage. One of the replies under the post reads; "I LOVE IT (sic) WHAT A GREAT CATCH LORETTA HE'S DEFINITELY A SEXY SPECIMEN OF A MAN WHEN THE LORD MADE HIM HE BROKE THE MOLD AFTERWARDS !!!!"

However, a day after, Loretta Lynn announced again on Instagram that; "Well, it didn’t last long, y’all but it sure was fun! I guess I better get on here and let y’all know that it was just a joke— @kidrock and I didn’t get married over the weekend, but we had a blast."

Just a day ago, Kid Rock also posted that it was all a joke and he hoped other people enjoyed it as much as he did too.
